George Bellows was an American Realist painter born in Columbus, Ohio in 1882. Bellows is one of the most acclaimed American artists of his generation, and was best known for his gritty urban scenes of New York and American life in the 20th century. His expansive body of work also includes a multitude of seascapes, World War I scenes, and depictions of boxing matches.
