George Luks was a 20th century American realist artist and illustrator. In 1908, along with Robert Henri, John Sloan, and a few other painters, Luks formed The Eight—a group dedicated to painting the truths of everyday life. Together, these artists eventually became known as the Ashcan School, which continued exploring the realities of urban life and city living.
