When Annie Griffiths was hired by National Geographic in 1978, she was one of the first women to work as a photographer for the magazine. Over the course of an illustrious career, she has photographed in more than 100 countries, covering stories on Lawrence of Arabia, Baja California, Galilee, Petra, Jerusalem, Sydney, and New Zealand. Her work as also appeared in LIFE, Geo, Smithsonian, Fortune, Stern, and many other publications.

Griffiths has received awards from the National Press Photographers Association, the Associated Press, the National Organization of Women, The University of Minnesota, and the White House News Photographers Association.
