Futurism courtesy of The Art Story.

Futurism was a 20th-century, Italian, avant-garde art movement that celebrated advanced technology and urban modernity. Futurist artists criticized outmoded politics and culture and found physical beauty in modern life’s machinery, speed, violence, and change. Futurist work is characterized by heavy forms, harsh angles, and plains broken into smaller pieces to suggest movement. In a rare instance of an avant-garde art movement embracing far right politics, Futurists espoused Fascism in its inception because of corresponding ideals of rapid modernization, destruction of the old, and nationalism.
