The Hungarian National Gallery: Curated Picks

Located within Budapest’s Buda Castle—the historical palace of Hungarian Kings—the Hungarian National Gallery offers a collection of works that trace over 1,000 years of Hungary’s political and social histories. Established in 1957, the museum aims to showcase changes and developments within Hungarian visual culture as well as present a wide range of international artwork to people living in Budapest. Currently, there is debate amongst the museum’s personal and the city’s Museum of Fine Art about whether to merge the two collections.
